Lawrence Ernest Alford

ROCKY MOUNT - Lawrence Ernest Alford, age 85, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2018. Born in Franklin County, NC on June 6, 1932, he was the son of the late Lawrence "Jake" Sydney Alford and Katie "Chick" Elizabeth Moore. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Sadie Mae Alford Pridgen. Lawrence lived in Rocky Mount for 61 years. He worked as an accountant for the City of Rocky Mount and Hardee's Food Systems. Lawrence ended his career as a self-employed bookkeeper. He always felt fortunate to be able to make a living doing what he enjoyed. Lawrence was a dedicated family man and thoughtful friend and neighbor. He will be missed by all who knew him. Lawrence leaves behind to cherish his memory, wife of 62 years, Lucille Wrenn Alford; daughters, Quinn Thomas of Raleigh, Cheryl Bentley of Rocky Mount, and Marcie Daniels and husband, Charlie, of Ft. Worth, TX. He is also survived by grandchildren, Miles Alford, Marlie Daniels, and Amberlie Daniels; and nephew, Billy Pridgen, and wife, Donna, of Cary.
