Jimmy Lee DeBruhl

March 7, 1938 ~ July 23, 2014

Jimmy Lee DeBruhl, age 76, entered into his heavenly home on Wednesday, July 23, 2014. Born in Tarboro, NC on March 6, 1938 he was the son of the late Ruby Fussell Livesay and Lloyd Cabel DeBruhl. Jim will forever be grateful to his aunt and uncle, the late Sally Fussell Taylor and Oscar Taylor for their sacrificial care, support and spiritual direction. Jim graduated from Tarboro High School in 1957 and East Carolina University in 1961 with a Bachelor of Industrial Arts Degree. He proudly served our country as a Reservist in the Army National Guard from 1956-1978, and was a member of Masons Concord Lodge #58 in Tarboro, NC. Jim dedicated his life to Christ and the care and support of his family and church, and he was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church in Rocky Mount, NC for 27 years. Jim was known as a very hard worker owning and operating J De Supply for 36 years. As a manufacturers representative he sold agricultural and construction equipment to equipment dealers throughout North and South Carolina. Jim will be remembered for his steadfast faith and profession that Jesus Christ was his Lord and Savior. His gift of self to his family and others, his witty humorous charm, and ambitious but playful competitive spirit will continue to be cherished by his family. Jim had a desire for adventure and travel, and loved to read all he could about WWII. He loved spending time outdoors, gardening, camping, target shooting, fishing, golf, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Jim also really enjoyed sharing a good meal, breaking bread and a glass of wine with family, friends and business associates. Jim leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 56 years, Shirley Padgett DeBruhl, two children Kevin DeBruhl and Karen Hammond (husband Ken Hammond), and two grandchildren Jessica and Bishop Saunders. On Saturday July 26th at 2:00 P.M.a memorial service to celebrate Jims life will be held at First United Methodist Church in Rocky Mount, NC. All are welcome to attend, a interment service and reception will follow in the church columbarium.   1. I remember growing up with Uncle Jimmy and Aunt Joyce, every family event found them present. Uncle Jimmy was a wonderful man. He loved his family and always had a smile and a joke to brighten your day. He was always there when you needed a helping hand. We will miss him and our prayers are with Kevin, Karen, Bill, Jessica, Bishop and Aunt Joyce.

  3. so sorry to hear about Jimmy, Shirley…..we were out of town for a wedding and could not go to the funeral……sorry he suffered a lot but he is in a better place now where he want hurt anymore or suffer ….God bless you Shirley.

  4. I am so sorry for your loss. Just rememberThere is no earthly sorrow that God cant heal. The Bible tells us God is near to those who are broken hearted, & those who are crushed in spirit, he saves. Ps. 34 18. What a warming thought, God is always there for us, What a hope we have for our future.
