ROCKY MOUNT – Jane Carter Bulluck, age 95, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 29, 2024.  Born in Sampson County, NC on September 26, 1929, she was the daughter of the late William Edgar Carter and Stella Rich Carter.  She was also preceded in death by her husband of 18 years, C.L. “Bill” Bulluck; her sisters, Edrena Rich, Nettie Carter, Bessie Carter and Gladys Pistritto; her brother, Clarence Carter.

Jane moved to Rocky Mount from Sampson County, NC, the place she held close to her heart as her birthplace and childhood home. In Rocky Mount, she became a founding member of West Edgecombe Baptist Church, where she served faithfully in any capacity needed. Jane dedicated herself to roles like teaching Sunday school and working in the church library until about a year ago. She cherished being part of a close-knit group of women who would gather after church on Sundays to enjoy breakfast or brunch together.

After her move to Rocky Mount, Jane began working as a bookkeeper at Matthew’s Drug Store in downtown, which later became Raper Drugs. She later joined Rocky Mount Medical Park Pharmacy, continuing her work there until she was 90 years old. Jane’s career in pharmacy spanned an impressive 69 years, and she only stepped away due to health concerns brought on by the pandemic. Her legacy of hard work and dedication remains deeply admired by all who knew her.

Jane is survived by her nephew; Jeff Pistritto (Maria) of Myrtle Beach, SC; nieces; Debbie (Karen) Pistritto-Vertucci of Pleasant Valley, NY; and Stella Hairr of Wilmington, NC.  She was cared for by her great-nephew Richard (Mary) Moore of Greenville and many great-nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and cousins.

Guestbook

  1. Hugs and prayers to all of Aunt Jane’s family that have been caring for her over the last few years. I first met her when I was working at Matthews Drug Store as a teenager, and she was dating my Uncle Bill. When they got married, I loved telling her to not forget that I was the original Jane Bulluck!! I saw her most Sundays at West Edgecombe Baptist Church over the years I was there, and we always shared a hug and best wishes for a good week. She will be missed by so many.

  2. Jane was always the smiling face at Raper Drugs or Medical Park Pharmacy. She always asked about my children and grandchildren . She loved the Lord and her prayers were heard. Sincere
    sympathy and
prayers of peace for all her family.

  3. “Aunt Jane” came into my family by marriage. My wife Carolyn looked forward to meeting her at every family gathering for the last 25 years. A beautiful person!

  4. I have Known Jane since she worked at Matthews Drug, then I worked with her at Raper Drug. Then at Rocky Mount medical Park . She was the sweetest , young hearted person. I loved her !!You will be missed❤️❤️Love Sandra

  5. Oh my…. Miss Jane was the sweetest! She always was kind and helpful. After my Mama was unable to go out and about like to RMMP pharmacy, MIss Jane always asked about her. Love her truly, and have missed her… I look forward to seeing her again one day, “When we all get to heaven.” ❤️

  7. Jane was a pleasure to be around. She loved to tell stories about growing up in Sampson county and the old house where she grew up. She was a hard worker! Jane was a best friend of our mother and told the story about going to Cuba with her and my aunt Joyce. Just the three of them, venturing off on a crazy fun throwing care to the wind kinda trip way back in the early days. She was loved by many, will be sorely missed but for those who know the lord, we shall see her again!
