James Gregory “Greg” Colbert

ROCKY MOUNT - James Gregory "Greg" Colbert, age 59, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2017. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on October 30, 1958, he was the son of the late James Edward Colbert and Ponola Faircloth Colbert. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Bruce Edward Colbert. Greg loved music, especially playing his guitar. He had a love for history and loved participating in Civil War Reenactments. Greg enjoyed every single day and never met a stranger. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him and loved him. Greg leaves behind to cherish his memory, aunt, Dorothy Vann of Virginia Beach, VA; uncle, William Smith of Rocky Mount; several special cousins; special friends, Mike Naron and Larry Bone; and his two dogs, Ginger and Fuzzy. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Pineview Cemetery with Mike Naron officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, December 8, 2017 from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1130 N.   7. Prayers for and love to Greg’s family! I know Ponola is happy to have both of her boys’ with her again! She loved them both so much. I still miss her and Sylvia so much! But Greg did say last week that he was ready to see his Grandma. I had the honor of sitting with him a couple of times at Kitty Askins Hospice – Greg was a quiet, gentle giant. He will be missed by his family and friends – but he is in a much better place and free of pain. God bless you all … Dee Dee Smith
