ROCKY MOUNT - James Earl Viverette, age 60, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2015. He was born in Nash County, NC on March 17, 1955 to the late Shirley Ann Turner Griffin. He was also preceded in death by his stepdad, Donald Griffin.
He leaves to cherish in his loving memory, his daughter, Ruby Ann "Missy" Stallings; stepson, Edward Stallings, Sr.; one sister, Ann Griffin; two brothers, Scott Griffin and special friend Debbie, Keith Griffin and wife, Lisa. James is also survived by his grandchildren, Kenneth Fulford, III, Matthew, Bridgett and Jadon Wilkerson, Michael Harrah, Roxanne, Brianna and Edward Stallings, Jr., Autumn Finch-Gilliam, Zachery Pierce and Carly Ricks. Also surviving is a special niece, Lori Griffin.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Rocky Mount Memorial Park with Gina House and Albert Preston Holmes officiating. A visitation will be held from 7:00pm to 9:00pm on Friday, April 10, 2015 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.

I have known James Earl for many years. We had some good times together in our early years. RIP James Earl, your sickness and pain is now gone. You may have left that old sick body here but your life has just begun !

It’s hard to believe that it’s been 5 years already since James Earl and your whole family opened your hearts and homes to Michael and I after Mac passed away. Your gracious generosity made a devastating time in Michael’s life more bearable. Your family holds a very special place in our hearts and we wish we could be there with you today. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. May God’s grace see you through this terribly sad and difficult time. James Earl’s heart and kindness was a true blessing to us and he will always be remembered as a wonderfully caring man. He was Mac’s best friend and Michael and I are so sorry for your loss. It says that soon Jehovah will swallow up death forever and that he will wipe away all of the tears. So we can all look forward to a time when death will be no more.
