Jackie Page Ward

Jackie Page Ward, age 64, passed away on Friday, June 12, 2015. She was born on September 28, 1950 in Oxford, NC to Norwood Allan Page and Doris Woodall Page. She was predeceased in death by her father. Jackie was a member of First Baptist Church of Rocky Mount, a member of the Womens Prayer Group, and a member of the Canasta Card Group of Rocky Mount. She was honored in 1983 by then Governor Jim Hunt as an “Outstanding Volunteer” in Eastern NC for her leadership in establishing “Lifeline” through Nash General Hospital. She established Lights of Love, and the annual Pediatric Christmas party at Nash General Hospital. She held offices of Membership Chair, Publicity Chair, and Projects Chair for the Nash General Hospital Auxiliary. She also served on various Nash HealthCare committees. She also served in the past as a faithful volunteer at Benvenue Elementary School and Cub Scout Troops. She volunteered time for the Red Cross Blood Mobile, the United Way, The Rocky Mount Soup Kitchen and the City of Rocky Mount. Jackie also served on the Board of the Rocky Mount Meals on Wheels Program. She was Past President of the Rocky Mount Junior Guild, served two terms with Nash General Hospital Auxiliary as President, Vice President and Secretary; served as President of the Ladies Auxiliary, Rocky Mount Elks Lodge - 1038; served 42 years as a hospital volunteer with Nash General Hospital/Nash Health Care Systems accumulating 18,000 hours of volunteer time, the most in the history of Nash General Hospital. In addition to giving her time through volunteer work, Jackie could often be found in local athletic fields watching her children and her grandchildren play sports. She also loved the home she shared at Emerald Isle, North Carolina with her husband Ted as well Duke University athletics and Boston Red Sox baseball. Jackie believed in living life to the fullest and in giving her time and resources to serving the Lord and always encouraged her family and friends in following her lead in these endeavors. Jackie is survived by her husband of 46 years, Ted Ward of Rocky Mount; her mother, Doris Woodall Page of Rocky Mount; sons, Jeffrey S. Ward and his wife, Robin, Travis B. Ward and his wife, Witten and Jeremy S. Ward and his wife, Ashley, all of Rocky Mount; and grandchildren, Tyler, Ramsey, Landon, Connor, Gage, Easton and Duffy. She is also survived by her sister, Susan Page Bachman and her husband, Walt of Leicester, NC and her brother, Allan Page and his wife, Kathy of Rocky Mount. In addition, Jackie is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 15, 2015 at 2:00pm at First Baptist Church, 200 South Church Street, Rocky Mount, NC with Rev. Jeff Hedgepeth officiating. Burial to follow the services at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2015 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home Cremation Services, 1130 N.   3. Jackie worked as a volunteer in our surgery pavilion for several years. She was one of the sweetest people I have ever known. She was always looking for ways to help others, always smiled and never complained. She will be missed by everyone!

  4. Donna and Bucky sending our sympathy to Ted and all her family. Jackie was always wiling to help in anything that was done especially at Rocky Mount Elks Lodge, where we got to know her first. She was proud of her children and grandchildren, I saw her on several occasions at the ball field with Travis and Jeremey and then recently with her grandchildren. Ted this is just so unbelievable to us and I know it is excruciating painful for you and you boys. She always had a smile and was one of those people you thought would be here forever.
