Iva Gertrude Lewis White

ROCKY MOUNT - Iva Gertrude Lewis White, age 96, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2020. Born in Wilson County, NC on December 30, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Walter R. Lewis and Maggie Johnson Lewis. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Marshall E. White; her sisters, Virginia Rose and Hellen Barber; her brothers, Robert Lewis and Ed Lewis; and her dear friend Joyce Williams. A beloved wife to her late husband Marshall, loving daughter, aunt, and special friend to many, Gertrude touched many throughout the years through her giving nature. After many years working with Hackney Brothers Body Company, she retired in 1980 and together with her husband enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. She was always fond of her travels to both Alaska and Hawaii as she and Marshall enjoyed many wonderful years together. Gertrude's love and kindness for all will never be forgotten. Gertrude is survived by her sister Joyce Lewis; her special nieces and nephews, Ray White, Debbie Bradley, Pat Perry, Ginny Taylor, Bill Lewis; along with many other loving family members. A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, November 16, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Rocky Mount Memorial Park Chapel on the Hill Mausoleum with Rev. Ray Barnhill officiating. A visitation with the family will follow the service in the Chapel.
