Inez Clark Carson Stancil, born September 12, 1921, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 4, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Beulah Clark; her sisters, Nell Garrard and her husband, Clarence; Margaret Cooley and her husband, Dave; brothers, J.T. Clark and R.C. Clark. Her only surviving siblings are sister, Kathleen Sullivan and sister-in-laws, Jane Clark and Rene Clark.
Inez was married to the late Earl Hunter Carson for more than 46 years and a brief time to late Roger Stancil.
She lived all her life in Nash County and was a partner of Carson-Clark Construction Company for more than 30 years until her retirement. She was an active member of North Rocky Mount Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and was a faithful member of Arlington Baptist Church until she retired to Autumn Care.
She took great pride in “all her children” and kept many of her grandchildren, nieces and nephews throughout the years.
She is survived by her daughter, Vicky Carson Gardner and her husband, Kenneth; her grandchildren, John F. Thigpen, III, Carol Cooke and her husband, Alan, Jennifer Hill (Travis); great-grandchildren, Justin Keen, Baleigh Hill, Alex Cooke and Caitlyn Cooke; and great-great-grandchildren, Hayla and Michael Keen.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804 with Carlton Cockrell officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park where she will be laid to rest next to her loving husband, Earl Hunter Carson. A visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 12:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimers Research, Eastern North Carolina Chapter, 400 Oberlin Road, Suite 208, Raleigh, NC 27605.
