ROCKY MOUNT - Ida Vick Faucette Briley, age 90, passed away on Monday, December 10, 2018. Born in Nash County, NC on September 1, 1928, she was the youngest child of the late Benjamin Franklin Faucette and Lucy Griffin Faucette. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, George H. "Pete" Briley, Sr.; and her six siblings.
Ida grew up in Aventon NC or "Scuffletown" as she called it. She enjoyed her occasional drive through her early stomping grounds where she loved to share old stories with whoever would listen. Ida was a bookkeeper for many years with a strong work ethic where she mostly attributed the skill from her former boss, Henry Gregory, at United Federal Saving & Loan. She made sure that her children developed this same skill. She later dedicated her life to working with her son at Car Wash Services in Rocky Mount until she was nearly 80 years old. Ida was a charter member of Falls Road Baptist Church and later when she and her husband moved permanently to their lake home, a charter member of Lake Gaston Baptist Church. Upon moving back to Rocky Mount, she became a member of Oak Level Baptist Church.
Ida leaves behind to cherish her memory, sons, George H. Briley, Jr. and wife, Brenda and Steven F. Briley and wife, Debbie; and daughter, Vickie B. Bullard. She is also survived by grandchildren, Chris Briley and wife, Michelle, Nicole Perry and husband, Wood, Timothy Briley, Elizabeth Bryant and husband, Jon, David Briley and wife, Amanda, Jessica Watson and fianc, Carl; great-grandchildren, Dylan Briley, Justin Briley, Griffin Perry, Foster Perry, Sawyer Perry, Lee Bryant, and Chase Pearson.
A Going Home Service will be held on Friday, December 14, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
