G. Milton Goff

ROCKY MOUNT - G. Milton Goff, age 90, of Nobles Mill Pond Road, Rocky Mount, passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at The Fountains of the Albemarle in Tarboro. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on July 8, 1926, he was the son of the late George Ernest Goff and late Helen Powell Goff. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Inez Privette Goff; and his brother, Elbert Maurice Goff. Milton was a graduate of West Edgecombe High School in the Class of 1943. He served with the U.S. Army in the Philippines during World War II. After the Japanese surrender, he was among the first occupation forces to land in Japan. He later graduated from the Morehead City Technical Institute, which was the forerunner of the current Community College System. He returned home to farm with his father on the farm where he grew up. He continued to farm until his retirement. He and his wife, Inez, were charter members of Northside Community Church. Milton leaves behind to cherish his memory, brother, Julian P. Goff of Belhaven; four nieces, Dorothy Kea, Ethel Meadows, Helen Edwards, and Lisa Fox; and numerous cousins. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 3:00 PM at Northside Community Church, 1660 Beaver Pond Road, Rocky Mount with the Rev. Mark Pridgen officiating. Burial will follow at Pineview Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM prior to the service.
