Evelyn Tharrington Jackson

August 9, 1920 ~ January 15, 2016

Evelyn Tharrington Jackson, age 95, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2016. She was the daughter of the late Zollie D. Tharrington and Minnie Whitfield Tharrington. Evelyn especially enjoyed caring for and walking her dogs, whom she considered her children. She had a zest for life and as a member of Oakview Baptist Church, held her faith close to her heart. Evelyn took pride in caring for her home and cherished her friendships made through selling Avon for many years. Although having no children of her own, she surrounded herself with the innocence and laughter of children as a Nash-Rocky Mount school bus driver, a responsibility she took seriously as any parent would. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Evelyn leaves behind to cherish her memory, her nephews Ricky and Martin Jackson as well as numerous Jackson family members. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 18, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home Cremation Services with Rev. Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and relatives Sunday, January 17, 2016 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home Cremation Services. 1. She was a wonderful Aunt to my friend. She may not of had her own children but she treated everyone as her children. Prayers to her family and friends whom she left behind.

  2. What a Wonderful Woman my Aunt Evelyn was!! So caring, thoughtful, and giving. She was a great woman and I have so many wonderful memories of her, my childhood, and thankfully for many years after. She also won the hearts of my wife and children and they will forever have fond memories of her as well. I now know she’s in a wonderful place with her Lord Jesus Christ. I will miss you Sweet Aunt Evelyn. Thank you for all your love you so graciously gave. Kisses!!
