Eloise Jeffries "Weese" Holland

June 15, 1934 ~ July 21, 2024

NASHVILLE – Eloise Jeffries “Weese” Holland, age 90, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2024. Born in Nash County, NC on June 15, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Leonard Jeffries and Rachel Virginia Hicks Jeffries. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Inez Langley; her brothers, Billy Jeffries, Bobby Jeffries; and her half-brothers, John Jeffries, J.B. Jeffries, and Linwood Jeffries.
Weese began her distinguished career in the Insurance Department at Parkview Hospital before transitioning to Nash General Hospital, where she ultimately retired as the Vice President of Financial Services after an impressive 46 ½ years of dedicated service. She was a long-time member of Ebenezer Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she served in numerous capacities. Weese’s faith was central to her life, and she deeply loved her Lord and Savior. More recently, she found spiritual fulfillment worshiping at Redeemer Church, surrounded by her beloved family. Weese had a deep love for flowers, and she took great pleasure in tending to her yard, and cherished her time at the beach, where walking along the shore brought her immense joy. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, each member holding a special place in her heart.
Weese is survived by her husband of 72 years, Eugene “Gene” Freeman Holland, Sr.; her sons, Eugene Freeman “Butch” Holland, Jr. and wife, Marilyn; Dean Avery Holland and wife, Susan; her grandchildren, Corrie Holland Gurganus (Elic), Seth Holland (Garrison), Morgan Holland Williams (Ted), and Tyler Holland (Kristen); her great-grandchildren, Riley Williams, Rhett Gurganus, Levi Williams, Reinn Gurganus, Joshua Holland, and Sadie Holland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service to celebrate Weese’s life will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Dr. Dayton Hartman and Rev. Charles Gentry officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
A private family burial will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery in Nashville.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made in Weese’s memory to Redeemer Church of Rocky Mount, 2020 Old Mill Road, NC 27803.
