Ellis Jones Watson

ROCKY MOUNT - Ellis Jones Watson, age 104, died peacefully at Brookdale on Wednesday, July 22, 2020. Born in Nash County, NC on July 20, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Luther Eldon Jones and Clara Harper Jones. She was married to Frank Green Watson from 1936 until his death in 1991 and was also preceded in death by her daughter, Jean Dale Watson Scott. Mrs. Watson was a graduate of ECU where she received a teaching degree. Ellis is survived by her son, James "Jim" Donald Watson and wife, Billie, of Raleigh; her grandchildren, Kimberly "Kim" Scott Winnett and husband, David, of Hilton Head, SC, Frank Donald Watson and wife, Janet, of Cary, and Elizabeth Watson Gilbert and husband, Bill, of Raleigh; her great-grandchildren, Cole and Alex Winnett, Simon Watson and Scott and Natalie Gilbert. A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. A private family burial will occur at Pineview Cemetery. The family would like to especially thank the Brookdale Nursing staff for their dedication, love, and support over the last 20 years in which they cared for Mrs. Ellis.
