What a wonderful teacher and gentleman. I am so proud and privileged to have had Dr. Howe as my mentor. He could be tough and demanding, but that brought out the best in all of his residents and students. I am forever grateful for him for accepting me into his programme and opening the door to a fabulous 3 year experience in Los Angeles, and a career that I love. My fondest memory of him was the morning of April 3, 1984, the whole department gathered in his office for rounds as usual at around 730, after which he would normally go over the classroom/lab/teaching assignments for the day. As he started to go through the schedule, I pulled 8 tickets for that afternoon’s Dodgers opening day game against St. Louis out of my notebook. He took one look and said… Forget what I just said everyone…, the department is closed for the rest of the day… whose driving? It was the best! Here is Joe singing the National Anthem at Dodger Stadium that afternoon.
I was one of Dr. How’s Radiology Residents in the mid 1980s in Los Angeles. He was truly my Radiology mentor. My deepest sympathies to y’all. May God rest his soul and bring peace to Dee and everyone else.

Dr. Joseph Howe was truly a mentor and a servant/educator to many in the chiropractic profession.
From my first encounter as an intern throughout my professional career, Dr. Howe embodied all the attributes of a true and loyal friend as we shared professionally and non-professionally on a variety of subjects that involved radiology, our profession, and current culture issues of the day. He provided balanced consul with a congenial attitude and with a genuine display of affection that made him a unique individual.
Our profession and the world will miss this special servant among men who unselfishly gave his all for the betterment of society.

With deepest sympathy at this time of sorrow Your Logan University friends.
Dr. Howe was a mentor and friend to many. As a chiropractic radiologist and educator, he touched many lives. I was lucky enough to cross paths with him when his path led him to Missouri and he started training residents again at Logan. His knowledge, wit, and kindness will never be forgotten. His love for his family and his faith was deep and inspiring. My deepest condolences to Dee and family. God be with you ’til we meet again.
