Doris Pitt Johnson

AYDEN - Doris Pitt Johnson, age 72, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 24, 2020. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on March 11, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Archie Pitt and Mary Christine Pollard Pitt.
Doris retired from Poyner & Spruill LLP in Rocky Mount with 25 years of service. A woman of great faith and a servant's heart, she loved serving the Lord in the mission work at West Edgecombe Baptist Church helping others and did it well. Doris enjoyed the beauty in caring for her garden, the same care she gave to her family through the years. Above all, her most cherished memories will be those spent with her grandchildren. She was a very active and faithful servant who loved her family, her church family, her friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Doris is survived by her husband of 41 years, Kermit "Rudy" Johnson; her daughter, Maria Johnson Judge and husband, Harry, of Greenville; her grandchildren, Wyatt Edward Judge and Audrey Marie Judge, both of Greenville; her sister, Margaret Ellen Pitt Prout and her husband, Lloyd; her niece, Deidre Prout, all of Winston Salem; and numerous cousins.
A Graveside Service to celebrate Doris' life will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Rocky Mount Memorial Park Chapel of Memories Mausoleum with Rev. Billy Webb officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives on Monday, December 28, 2020 from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
Entombment will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park Chapel of Memories Mausoleum.
Because of Covid 19, the family requests that everyone respect their wishes and wear masks and practice social distancing.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made in Doris' memory to West Edgecombe Baptist Church, 13821 NC-43, Rocky Mount, NC 27801.

Doris was a very sweet, kind and soft spoken lady. I met her many years ago at a class reunion with my husband Robbie Wooten. Our thoughts and prayers are sent to her husband Rudy and her family. You will be missed Doris but God has bigger plans for you now.
I was so sorry to hear that Doris had passed. I always loved spending time with her each year as we practiced for our Community Choir events. She will be missed but I know which choir she’s singing in now.
Our hearts are broken in grieve for Rudy, Maria, Harry, Wyatt, Audrey, Margaret and other family members. Our prayers for God give strength, peace and hope to you all. Jim and I are truly saddened by this devastating news! Everyone loved Doris bc she was always doing for others, young and old, it didnt matter. She focused only on serving her God. Friends are one of our greatest treasures in life and Doris Pitt Johnson was truly a great friend to many. She will continue to grace our lives with smiles, love and wonderful memories. Thank you Doris for walking beside me in life and surrounding me with your spirit for eternity. I will always love you.
My prayers are with your family. It was a joy to work with Doris at Poyner and Spruill. Then years later I would be blessed to see Doris at the Y and at Bible Study Fellowship. She embodied the love of Christ and enriched the lives of all who knew her.
