Dewey "Wayne" Bradshaw

Rocky Mount – Dewey “Wayne” Bradshaw, age 76, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2026.  Born in Burke County, NC on April 8, 1949, he was the son of the late Dewey Stanley Bradshaw and Bessie Pauline Smith Bradshaw.  He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Larry Joe Bradshaw and David “Terry” Bradshaw.

A man of great faith, Wayne was a long-time member of North Rocky Mount Church of God and served on the Praise and Worship Team.  Known for having a great sense of humor, he was widely known for bringing laughter and joy to all those around him and laughing with them.  In his spare time, Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing, visiting the mountains, and spending time with his family and friends, especially his two granddaughters whom he cherished.  A devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and good friend to many, Wayne will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 50 years, Emily Thompson Bradshaw; his sons, Timothy Wayne “Tim” Bradshaw and David Paul Bradshaw (Candice); his grandchildren, Katelyn Grace Bradshaw and Faith Elizabeth Bradshaw; his brothers, William “Johnnie” Bradshaw (Ruth), and Robert Lee Bradshaw (Glenda); his sisters, Virginia Bradshaw “Jenny” Henry and Judith Bradshaw “Judy” Joyner; his nieces, Tammy Benfield (Tim) and Latisha Vernon (Allen); his great nieces and nephews, Sara Beth, Nicholas, Michael, Jeffrey, Jamie, Kimberly, Scott, Kelly, Ashley, and Andy; and many extended family members and good friends.

A Funeral Service to celebrate Wayne’s life will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Ave., Rocky Mount, NC 27804 with Rev. Jerome Mozingo and Rev. Timothy Dean officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.  Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

  4. Our prayers and condolences are for the family of our dear friend and brother in Christ. The family circle is getting smaller down here, but it is getting bigger in Glory. Soon the family will be together again. What a joyous reunion that will be.

  6. Wayne was a great man. I worked with Wayne in the insurance business and went hunting with him also. I attended church with him and his family and my prayers and love are with them. May God bless each one of you.
