Deborah "Kay" Proctor Goff

February 8, 1951 ~ January 5, 2026

ROCKY MOUNT –  Deborah “Kay” Proctor Goff, age 74, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026.  Born in Nash County, NC on February 8, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Marshall Durwood Proctor and Lois Lucille Skinner Proctor.  She was also preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, William “Billy” Lee Goff; and her brothers, Charles “Durwood” Proctor and Sam Proctor.

Kay was a ball of fire.  She was the youngest of five siblings, but it was well known among all of them that she was the toughest, and they readily admitted how scared they were of her.  Yet beyond that toughness, she was almost always smiling.  Kay loved arts and crafts and had a special affection for rabbits, she loved everything about them.  Her faith was central to her life; the Lord was her strength, and Jesus was her Savior.  She adored her grandchildren and never missed a single activity in their lives, faithfully showing up with pride and love.  Kay loved parties, especially her birthday, and recently found great joy in planning it, assigning roles to people who didn’t even know they had them, but were certain to find out one way or another.  True to the very end, she remained a ball of fire who loved her family deeply and lived life with joy, purpose, and passion.

Kay is survived by her daughters, Tracy Turner (Mike) of Rocky Mount and Marsha Barrow (Danny) of Rocky Mount; her grandchildren, Tyler Barrow (fiancé, Brandi Varnell) and Kaitlyn Barrow; her brother, Rudy Proctor; her sister, Brenda Weaver; her sister-in-law, Diane Proctor; and her nieces, Emily Proctor Andrews and Melanie Wall.

A Funeral Service to celebrate Kay’s life will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 2:30 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Pastor Tim Parker officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.  Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
