David Michael “Mike” Bales-Reams

ELM CITY - David Michael "Mike" Bales-Reams, age 62, angels carried him peacefully home, following his fight with cancer on Wednesday, June 3, 2020. Born in Nash County, NC on April 3, 1958, he was the son of the late Bobby Louis Reams and Barbara Ezzelle Reams. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Tony Bales and Matt Bales; sister, Tracy Bales; niece, Cassidy Bales; and nephews, Kevin Davis, Cameron, Bales, and Bryon Bales. Mike worked many years with his daddy at Reams Repair & Paint Co. He enjoyed carpentry, fishing, and NASCAR Racing #24. Mike loved spending time with family and friends and he was a very giving person with a generous and kind heart. Mike leaves behind to cherish his memory, caregiver and sister, Wendy Jo Emerson of Elm City; sister, Wanda Long of Wilmington; daughter, Tabatha Bales of Nashville; special nephews, Kristopher Pridgen and Patrick Chance Emerson; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and childhood friend, Troy Nelms. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Bales-Reams Family Cemetery in Elm City with Rev. Carlton Cockrell officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, June 5, 2020 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home. Flowers are welcome.
