Cleta Coley Barkley

ROCKY MOUNT - Our Beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, Cleta Coley Barkley, passed from this earthly plane on April 8, 2018. Born and raised in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Mrs. Barkley spent more than 20 years in and around the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio before relocating with her husband, William Willard Barkley, to Town Creek, North Carolina for the remainder of her life. She married Mr. Barkley in 1947, and she and her husband raised four children together before his passing in 1994. Mrs. Barkley always had a magnetic personality and made friends easily. She was quick witted and could share a laugh with anyone. She was also very strong willed and quick to share her opinion on a matter. But, most of all, she was very loving and adored her family and friends. She was very much loved. Mrs. Barkley was a member of Gospel Missionary Baptist Church in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Mrs. Barkley is predeceased by her husband, William Willard Barkley. She is also predeceased by her friend and companion, David Myers. She is survived by her children, Mickey William Barkley; Samantha Barkley Copley and husband, Jim Copley; Aimee Barkley Narron and husband, Gregory Carl Narron; and Willard Travis Barkley and wife, Debra Thurman Barkley. She is also survived by her eight Grandchildren, Richard Lee Smalley, William Barkley, Bryan Barkley, Brandon Narron, Casey Narron, Grant Barkley, Ben Barkley and Troy Barkley; and five Great-Grandchildren, Garrikk Smalley, Hannah Smalley, Bryan Barkley, Jr., Shianne Barkley and Noah Barkley. Mrs. Barkley's Final Wishes were for a small intimate service for immediate family only, followed by the cremation of her remains which are to be scattered in the Atlantic Ocean where her body will rest at peace for all eternity. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Gospel Missionary Baptist Church at 8438 Town Creek Road, Rocky Mount, NC 27803; or the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org. Arrangements entrusted to Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.   1. Mrs Barkley, I am so glad that I came to see you before you went to be with Mr. Barkley. I never stopped loving you as my mother in law and always admired the spunk you had. To see your smiling face was so heart warming. You will truly be missed by all that knew you and whose heart you touched. RIP sweet lady. Mickey, Samantha, Amiee, Travis and the extended family, I am so sorry for your loss, I know how it feels to loose a mother. We are never ready to let them go. May God wrap his arms around you all and comfort you in your time of need.

  2. Ma Cleta you were so Loved by me and you came into my life many years ago. Meeting you and pa Willard at church and becoming more than friends was a Great Day in my Life. You and your family became my family. Such Good memories were made. You will truly be missed. You were such a Loving Giving Caring human being. To your Loved ones Whom I Love as my brothers and sisters you know you had a Wonderful Mama. I know she is Happy to be at her forever Home now. We will miss her.
