Claudaline Griffin Greene

March 3, 1937 ~ October 23, 2014

Claudaline Griffin Greene, 77, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 23, 2014. She was born in Nash County and grew up in the Peachtree Community before moving to Rocky Mount. She was the daughter of the late Clifton and Virginia Edwards Griffin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charlie Manual Greene, Jr. and brother, Benjamin Griffin. A graduate of Spring Hope High School, Claudaline was involved in planning and preparing for the class reunions. She worked at Broughtons Furniture for over thirty years and then Premier Ford. Claudaline, fondly known as Claude and Claudia, loved life and truly had a servants heart. She was a compassionate and caring person who could always find good in everyone and every situation. Her joy in life was being with her family and friends and helping others. One could always find Claude volunteering and giving her time to helping others. She was an active member of Bethlehem Presbyterian Church where she served her Lord in many capacities. Claude enjoyed her involvement with all the social activities of the church by sharing her decorating and cooking talents. She was a Deacon, an Elder, served on various committees, and truly loved teaching her Young Adult Sunday School class. In 2013 she was honored by receiving the Outstanding Older Adult Presbyterian Award. Claude was also the recipient of the Presbyterian Women of New Hope Presbyterys Lifetime membership. Claude was active in the community. She was a member and President of Credit Women International and the West Mount Womens Club. She was a soup kitchen volunteer and delivered Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed traveling with friends and family and going on the annual family beach trips. She leaves to cherish her memory, her nephew, Travis Griffin and wife, Megan and their children, Aidan and Connor of Fort Orange, Fla ; sister-in-law, Sue Griffin of Spring Hope, NC; sisters-in-law, Annie Greene Jackson of Nashville, NC and Ella Greene Ames and husband, Kerry of Dover, DE; nieces, Rosemarie Evans and husband, Tim of Nashville, NC; Cindy Taylor and husband, Gene of Nashville, NC; and Gail Beasley and husband, Dirk of Arlington, TN. Nephews, Kevin Ames and wife Amber of Dover, DE; Nathan Ames of Dover, DE; and Kraig Ames and wife, Linda of Salisbury, MD. In addition, Claudaline leaves behind several very special great- nephews, great- nieces and cousins. She also leaves behind many special friends and neighbors. The family would like to thank Claudes church family, neighbors and friends who provided their love and support during her sickness while at home and in the hospital. Also a special thank you to the staff at Autumn Care and the CCU staff at UNC Nash who provided compassionate care to her during her final days . In keeping with Claudes giving spirit, she requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to United Community Ministries, P.O. Box 2624, Rocky Mount, NC 27802. A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2014 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home Cremation Services. A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 27, 2014 at 2:00pm at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, Rocky Mount with Reverend Dan Davis presiding.
