Clarence Eugene Christman

November 16, 1949 ~ December 7, 2025

Born in: Lancaster, PA
Resided in: Rocky Mount, NC

ROCKY MOUNT – Clarence Eugene Christman “Grandpa”, age 76, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 7, 2025.  Born in Lancaster, PA on November 16, 1949, he was the son of the late Carl and Lois Christman.  He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Trace Elijah Christman.

Clarence had a lot of stories to tell about all his escapades throughout his life.  He loved fishing and racing and was very knowledgeable about anything mechanical.  Clarence loved to create projects out of wood and metal.  His boys would often call and say, “Daddy, I need this.”, and he would say, “Let me see if I can make it first.”  And he never failed to make it.  He was one that anyone could call upon and he would be there.  Clarence was a faithful member of Englewood Assembly of God church.  You would see him any given day riding his Kabota around the neighborhood checking on his neighbors and telling stories.  He loved to go back to the old home place in Troupsburg, NY where he would sit and talk to family and friends about the ‘Good Old Days’.  Clarence brought so much love and joy to all the people that knew him.  He was full of pranks and laughter.  Our hearts are saddened for our loss but rejoice in his gain.  A gain of eternal life in Heaven because he believed in Jesus.

Clarence leaves a lifetime of memories for his beloved family including his wife of 55 years, Carol Prutsman Christman; his sons, Craig (Heather) of Rocky Mount and Chet (Amanda) of Nashville; his adored grandsons, CJ (Alyssa), Trace, Caleb, and Henry; he was so excited about his two great-grandchildren, Chase and Madelyn; his sister, Helen Buckwalter (Dan) of Homer, AK; his brother, Curt (Delite) of Lowville, NY; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Clarence’s Life will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Pastor Gerry Blood officiating. Guestbook

  1. I did enjoy the time spent with Clarence. He also treated me like family and I will never forget the many laughs we’ve shared over the stupidness stuff lol. He definitely has earned a spot in Heaven with his grandson and family/friends that have already gone over to the other side. Carol, Chet and Craig my prayers are with you and your family for nothing but the best of memories to carry you through this.

      • Rest in peace Mr Christman you were a great guy over all and I was glad to have been able to know you. My heart goes out to y’all’s family 💖

  2. GREAT neighbor & man, he would do ANYTHING to help in anyway he could….PRAYERS for his family as the days & months come & go….GREAT man

  3. Sending Prayers 🙏 For You Carol and All The Family and Friends; During This Difficult Time Of LOSS! We’re So Sorry! Clarence Always Loved Helping Everyone! 🙏❤️ May JESUS Comfort You-all With HIS LOVE and PEACE ✌️!Cousin Ellen and Ansel Grover Sr+Family 🙏

  4. Clarence was one of a kind. If I had car trouble he knew about what was going on. He got my mom into racing by winning two tickets to a race for her and she went and got hooked. You could hear him and her talking about the races and wanting to know how the number 37 car was. He had some very interesting stories and I’m going to miss hearing those. Carol is a dear friend and my prayers and thoughts are going out to her and to the family.

  5. So sorry to hear of Clarence passing. I have so many wonderful memories of both Clarence and Carol from West Union. I knew Clarence loved racing and remember my Mom saying I shouldn’t go to the races on Sunday. But she always relented because there would be several of us going and I said but we are all going with the Pastor’s son. Carol, I am thinking of you and sending prayers at this difficult time.

  6. Chet and Family
I am sorry to hear of your father’s passing. I pray that you will find peace in the memories that you made. God Bless you all with comfort at this time.

  7. Life is an emotional journey from celebration of a new life entering into the world to profound sadness when it comes to departure; however, the interim holds a myriad of memories. I remember the big man, with one of the firmest handshakes that I have ever experienced, in his “man cave”. Clarence was a gentle giant who welcomed my daughter into his family, for which I will be forever grateful. Thank you, Sir.

  8. Clarence was a man of many gifts which he used to serve Jesus in his own unique way.
I remember so well the puppet shows he and Carol would do at the Fellowship of Christ church and the stories he wrote based on his experiences as a boy.
He was one of a kind and it’s hard to believe he is gone.
Our prayers go up for Carol and all the family.

  9. Knowing Clarence practically my whole childhood for being in the same grade when he went to Whitesville Central School was an honor…he used to get the whole class in chaos and giggles…he was one of a kind for sure…Carol and family I am so sorry for your loss and if I could have I would have been there to the memorial service tomorrow…RIP Clarence and keep an eye on the family as you are surely in heaven this very minute and never not without God guiding you. sending much love to Carol and families…
