Charlie M. Harrison

Charlie M. Harrison passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at the age of 86. He was born in Gaston County, Florida, the son of Benny V. and Ellie P. Harrison. He was educated in Grady County, Georgia Schools, earned a B.S. degree from Florida State University and a BD from Southeastern Theological Seminary. He served pastorates in Florida and Georgia and the Southside Baptist Church of Rocky Mount. Subsequently he owned and operated Harrison Moving and Storage Company and was the local Bekins agent. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Frances Rountree Harrison; son, Charles Benjamin Harrison, Sr.; and his brother-in-law, Benjamin F. Rountree. He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Julie Glasser Harrison and grandchildren, Sarah Ann Harrison Chadwick and her husband, Gabriel of Springfield, Virginia, grandson, Charles Benjamin Harrison, Jr., all of Durham, sister-in-law, Gerry Harrison of Cairo, Georgia, his sister-in-law, Catherine Little Rountree of Pavo, Georgia, and a number of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a foster daughter, Kay McCall Owens and her family. He was an active member of First Baptist Church, serving as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher and member of various committees.
