Carroll Belk Wiggs

GREENSBORO – Carroll Belk Wiggs, age 91, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, surrounded by his family.  Born in Nash County, NC on May 22, 1933, he was the son of the late John Henry Wiggs, Sr. and Clyde Belk Wiggs.  He was also preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Norma Jean Pittman Wiggs; and his brother, John Henry Wiggs, Jr.; and his nephew, Jon Lee Wiggs.

Carroll was a 1951 graduate of Rocky Mount Senior High and a 1955 graduate of NC State University.  He worked for 39 ½ years as an engineer for DuPont in Kinston.  Carroll was active in Westminster and Queen Street United Methodist Churches in Kinston.  He was a Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 392 in Kinston. Carroll’s primary interest was spending time with his wife at the North Carolina Coast.  He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and the rest of family and friends whenever he could.  Carroll’s special hobby was woodworking and making fine furniture.  In his later years, he enjoyed watching Atlanta Braves baseball and spending time with his special friends at Abbotswood Retirement Home.

Carroll is survived by his son, Steven Belk Wiggs (Mary-Ann) of Pine Knoll Shores; his daughter, Susan Wiggs English (Warren) of Summerfield; his grandchildren, Michael Andrew Wiggs (Jackie) of Raleigh, Gregory Scott Wiggs (Kristen) of Leland, Andrew James English of Greensboro, and Jackson Belk English of Greensboro; his great-grandchild, Giovanni Scott Wiggs; his step-great-grandchildren, Krista Hutchins and Evyan Brown; his great-niece, Caroline Wiggs Cate (Joel); his great-nephew, Kent Wiggs (Jessica); and his special friend, Mary-Alice Wiggs.  He is also survived by many other loving relatives and friends.

A Memorial Graveside Service to celebrate Carroll’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Pineview Cemetery in Rocky Mount.  A visitation with the family will follow the service at the graveside.
