Rocky Mount, Tarboro and eastern North Carolina has lost one of its strongest advocates for the learning disabled and handicapped child and adult. She gave of herself tirelessly and without pause to promote and facilitate opportunities for those who needed an even playing field. She did this through the Association for Learning Disabled and Handicapped and its renowned summer school. She was a toe to toe advocate for parents in helping school systems to provide free and appropriate educations as required by law. She was a hard worker for the United Fund effort that provided her with some funding for ALDH and she repaid them with a lot of sweat equity informing of its usefulness and its need. She loved her children, grandchildren, her friends unconditionally. She was an humble servant to all around her. She will be missed.
My sincere condolences to the Riley and the Howell family for your loss. Certainly Carolyn will be missed! During this time of sorrow, meditating on Jehovah God promises found in his word the Bible, such as the end of death, and the hope of being able to see our dead loved ones again, will give us comfort and hope-2 Cor. 13, 4! Regarding the end of death, Jehovah God lets us know that death will be no more, along with mourning and tears of sorrow! The former things will have passed away. The words that Jehovah has spoken are faithful and true, so we can put our full confidence in him-Rev 214, 5! What a wonderful time that will be without any more death! Regarding the hope for our dead loved ones, Jesus helps us to appreciate that we can be reunited with our dead loved ones by means of the resurrection hope-John 528, 29. He demonstrated this when his close friend Lazurus died. After praying to Jehovah and receiving power, Jesus was able to Resurrect him, and we can imagine how excited his sisters and other friends were-John 1111-45! What a wonderful time to look forward too! Please feel free to check out our website-www.jw.org. When you access the website go to publications and go to the books and brochures tab, and search for the book What Does The Bible Really Teach, and please read chapter 7 Real Hope For Your Loved Ones Who Have Died! If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at [emailprotected] May your family be comforted!

Riley and Heath, I’ve known your mom for 40+ years and she was a genuine and caring mom, grandmother, wife and friend. She was the kind of woman who always gave more than she was given, loved more than she was loved, and gave her best in everything she did. I kew her as a hair stylist, a realtor, a wife, a mother, a girlfriend, a quiet, unassuming leader in the community on behalf of the learning disabled and handicapped. The was a 100% kind of woman and not many women like her are around anymore. I know she was so proud to be called mama and I hope her legacy will live through us all . You have my deepest sympathy for your tremendous loss. She is also a loss to many others and will be sincerely missed. Allison

May your days ahead be filled with good memories & love, to help you find comfort during this difficult time. One of the comforting verses in the Bible is John 1135, Jesus gave way to tears. Jesus knew of the resurrection, for in John 1125, he said I am the resurrection & the life. What a promises given to us.
