Carolyn Marie Proctor Stanfield, age 67, died on Wednesday, March 11, 2015. She was born in Nash County on January 18, 1948 to James Proctor and Ethel Lee Williams Proctor. She is preceded in death by her father, James Proctor.
Carolyn loved spending time with her family and granddaughters, working with flowers, especially and in flower gardens. An excellent cook, she loved canning and freezing food. Writing poems and making cards to send to those she loved was very important in her life.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Robert Stanfield of Rocky Mount, NC; her mother, Ethel Lee Williams Proctor of Rocky Mount, NC; her son, Robert Neal Stanfield (Kim Partridge) of Rocky Mount, NC; her grandchildren, Kayla Marie Stanfield and Melani Nicole Stanfield. Carolyn is also survived by sisters, Lois Bailey and her husband George of Rocky Mount, NC; Joyce Pridgen and her husband, Herbert of Wilson, NC and Peggy House of Rocky Mount, NC and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition, she is survived by her faithful companion, her Shih Tzu, Toby.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 13, 2015 at 2:30pm at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804 with Pastor David Taylor officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. A visitation will be held on Friday, March 13, 2015 from 1:00pm to 2:30pm at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804 and other times at the home of her mother, Ethel Lee Williams.
The family would like to thank the staff at Rocky Mount Rehabilitation Center, especially Kisha and Tammy, for the care given to Carolyn.

My deepest sympathy and prayers go out to Joyce, Lois, Peggy, and your extended families. I was saddened to hear that you all have lost your dear sister, Carolyn. I rode the school bus with all of you to West Edgecombe. I was a little younger than yall, but I remember all the sweet smiles and laughs that all of you had on those bus rides. I could see all the sisterly love that yall shared throughout the years in the video tribute too. My, how time does fly. It seems like just yesterday we were all young girls wanting to graduate from high school and begin life’s journey.
