Whitakers - Carolyn Eskew Medford, age 44, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2016. Born in Nash County, NC on April 1, 1971, she was the daughter of Francis Eskew, Jr. and Iris Eskew.
Along with her parents, Carolyn leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband, Scott Medford of Whitakers; and her step-son, Derek Mooring of Fremont.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home Cremation Services with the Rev. Garry Medford officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Edgecombe-Nash Humane Society, P. O. Box 1783, Rocky Mount, NC 27802 or to a charity of ones choice.

I didn’t know her long but I felt like she I have always known her. We both loved to talk and eat. RIP praying for Scott and the rest of the family for peace.
I’m dedicating this song to my cousin Carolyn Eskew Medford Mrscarolyn Medford who passed away yesterday at the age of 44. I remember when this song came out in 1982, her parents Francis Dot Eskew made the comment once that she loved this song. Carolyn was a TRUE Eskew, she was always working, whether it was in her yard, house or working at her mom and dad’s house helping them with housework that they weren’t able to do. Sometimes I get angry and have no idea why God takes people too soon. My sister Jackie Cook and I spent some quality time with her growing up, when she lived in Northgreen. I can’t play checkers without thinking about the time we played checkers and Chinese checkers at that house. She also took me to the store in the neighborhood to play Baby Pac-man pinball. I will always treasure those days of being care free at our grandparents house during the summer and after school.As young children and our teenage years not a day went by that I didn’t at least talk to you everyday.We kept in touch as adults but not nearly as much as we should.My heart is so heavy for your parents and Scott and Derek.May you rest in the arms of angels my dear friend.
