Bobby Gene Edwards

MOMEYER - Bobby Gene Edwards, age 68, passed away on Friday, April 28, 2017. Born in Nash County, NC on November 18, 1948, he was the son of the late Floyd Edwards and Roscoe Matthews Edwards. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Edward Ray Edwards; and sister, Phyllis Edwards. Bobby was a veteran of the United States Army. Following his service to his country, he went on to work for Barcalounger and Abbott Laboratories before entering into the construction industry and retiring from Chambliss & Rabil as superintendent. During his years in construction, Bobby built many Food Lions in North Carolina. He was a member of Momeyer Baptist Church. Bobby loved to travel with his wife across the United States and parts of Europe. He enjoyed spending his summers at his vacation home in Maine. In his spare time, he restored vintage cars. Bobby was a loving husband, brother, uncle, and friend and will be dearly missed by all those who knew him. Bobby leaves behind to cherish his memory, wife, Joanne Long Edwards; niece, Teresa Williams and husband, John, of Momeyer; nephew, Brian Edwards and wife, Taryn, of Momeyer; a great nephew Trysten Edwards; several cousins; and "Muffie", his fur baby. He is also survived by a brother-in-law Kenneth Long, and sister-in-laws Pamela Long, George Alma Edwards, and Bessie Leigh Denson. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. The family would like to especially thank Bobby's good friend, Charlie Shearin, for all the years of friendship they shared. Also, special thanks to friend and neighbor, Craig Sproul of Southport, Maine. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association, P. O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
