Marie Privette Williams

Rocky Mount – Marie Privette Williams, age 89, passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2025.  Born in Wilson County, NC on December 22, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Melvin Privette and Bessie Joyner Privette.  She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Willie Thomas Williams; her daughter in law, Michelle Williams; and her brother, Melvin Rudolph Privette.

A woman of great faith, Marie was a long-time member of Shenandoah Baptist Church.  She retired from Nash General Hospital after 20 years of selfless service.  Always a caregiver at heart, she cherished and took care of her family and those she loved.  A devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and dear friend to many, Marie will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Marie is survived by her daughters, Lorraine Williams Harper (John) and Wanda Williams Joyner; her son, Barry Leon Williams; her grandchildren, Heather Jones (Grant), Jeremy Harper, Andrew Joyner (Kristin), Joslyn Williams, and Krisan Joyner; her ten great grandchildren; her sister, Jean Privette Woodruff; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dearest friends.

A Graveside Service to celebrate Marie’s life and home going to be with her Lord will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Rocky Mount Memorial Park, 4454 Dortches Blvd., Rocky Mount, NC 27804, with Rev. Glenn Hill officiating.  Visitation with the family will be following the services at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marie’s name to either St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1999, Memphis, TN 38101, or to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, 1924 Capital Blvd, Raleigh, NC 27604.
