ELM CITY – It is with great sadness that the family of Ashley Sierra Bottoms announce her passing at the young age of 39 on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. Born in Nash County, NC on November 11, 1985, Ashley found her true calling in life the day her son, Ashton, was born.

Ashley’s world revolved around being a mother, a trait which was obvious to anyone anytime in the way she talked about her son or simply the way she would gaze upon him. She enjoyed traveling and creating special memories with her son whether it was to the beach, the mountains, or just spending time outdoors. Ashley was a long-time member of the Pocahontas Broken Arrow Council #1, DOP. A devoted and loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and dear friend to many, Ashley will be deeply missed and never forgotten by all those who knew and loved her.

Ashley was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Bobby and Hazel Glover and her paternal grandparents, Charlie & Mary Bottoms.

To cherish her memory, Ashley leaves behind her son and light of her life, Ashton Langley; parents, Glenn and Vickey Bottoms; brother, Bobby Bottoms; sister, Shanna Strickland (Daniel); special nieces and nephews, AJ, Lynn-Marie, Austin and Addison Bottoms, and Stella Strickland; aunts and uncles, Wanda Rhodes, Jeff Glover (Robin), Joe Bottoms (Jenny), Diane Wheeless (Ray), and Floyd Bottoms.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Ave., Rocky Mount, NC 27804, with Pastor Lin Robinson officiating. Visitation with the family will be following the services in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Ashley’s name to Deborah Unmuted, P.O. Box 1745, Elm City, NC 27822, a fellowship of Christian women who encourages, supports, and uplifts other women.

  82. I have gone to write something several times here, and nothing seems right. Mrs. Vickey and family, please know that Ashley meant so much to so many people. She lit up rooms. Her smile was contagious. I was blessed and honored to have known her for a very long time. She was never just a friend, but a sister in so many ways. Ashley, you are missed so much my sweet, beautiful friend. I love you.
