April June Davis Smith, age 47, of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, passed away on July 3, 2025, after an aggressive battle with cancer. Born on August 13, 1977, in Clairfield, Tennessee, April was surrounded by the love of her daughters as she peacefully gained her wings and entered her Heavenly home.
April was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Raised in Clairfield, Tennessee, she later made her home in Rocky Mount, NC, where she continued to share her strength, kindness, and unwavering love with all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jennifer Parks Davis and James L. Davis of Clairfield, TN; Children’s Father, Gregory Scott Smith of Wake Forest, NC; and her grandparents, Mike D. Parks and Loise Buckner Parks of Fonde, KY, and Rev. William Davis and Vestie Davis of LaFollette, TN.
April is survived by her three daughters: Mackenzie Smith, Jennifer Smith (Christian Marcom), and Sandra Smith, all of Wake Forest, NC; her cherished granddaughters, Oaklynn and Magnolia Thompson; her sister, Rebecca Howerton (Jonathan Howerton); and her adored nieces, Annabeth, Skylar, and Meredith Howerton.
April’s loving spirit extended to her oh so loved pets—Fat Boy, Little Man, and Mama Kitty—and her grand pups, Bindi and Lilly, who brought her immense comfort and joy.
She also leaves behind a large extended family of aunts and uncles across North Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, and South Carolina. Among them, a special bond was shared with her “Auntie and Uncle Bossy,” Mary “Boy” Parks Lambdin and Mike Lambdin of Middlesboro, Kentucky.
April will be remembered for her strength, her fierce love for her family, and the countless battles she faced and overcame with grace. Though her earthly journey has ended, her spirit remains a guiding light to all who were blessed to know her.
A celebration of April’s life will be held at a later date.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. April and I went to school together and were friends. When you all were younger she came to Savannah for a visit. We all had a great time. She loved you girls with all her heart and I can smile knowing her love for life will live on through each of you. I will forever hold my many memories of our friendship close to my heart.
