Red Oak - Annie Lee Shearin, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2016. Born in Halifax County, NC on June 17, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Aaron Clay and Alice Edwards Clay. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James A. Shearin; her daughter, Brenda Shearin Glover; her son, John Shearin and her son-in-law, Kelly Glover.
Annie was a woman of great faith who loved her Lord and her church, Red Oak United Methodist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed singing and dancing and was a member of the Red Hots Dance Group.
Annie leaves behind to cherish her memory, sons, Jim Shearin and wife, Ruby, of Rocky Mount; Barry Shearin and wife, Carol, of Spartanburg, SC; daughter, Helen Shearin Ayers of Tarboro; and her daughter-in-law, Vicki Glover. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Red Oak United Methodist Church, 8285 Red Oak Blvd., Red Oak with the Rev. David Joyner officiating. Burial will follow at Red Oak Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives on Saturday, March 5, 2016 from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home Cremation Services and other time at the home of Jim Shearin, 833 Russell Street, Rocky Mount, NC 27803.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Red Oak United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 66, Red Oak, NC 27868.
