ROCKY MOUNT - Alene Langley Lee Burnette went home to meet her Lord and Savior on July 16, 2018 peacefully. She was preceded in death by her parents German (Jarman) Langley and Judah Joyner Langley; sisters, Chris Walker and Loretta High; brother, Garland Langley; daughters, Phyllis Lee Lane Smith and Sara Lee Joyner; grandson, Christopher Lane, husbands, Clyde Lee and Joe Burnette.
Alene was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church for the past 50 years. She loved her Sunday School Sisters like a family and her church. Alene was a very loving, sharing person who has never met a stranger. She loved people. She shared her Lord with people she met as well as her cheesestraws, lady fingers, lemon bar cake, etc, etc, as well as her crocheted dish dollies and hand towels. She was a nurse for 20 years at Nash General Hospital. She retired early to spend time with her husband, Joe Burnette before he passed away. In her retirement she helped many organizations with her time, My Sister's House, Oak Level and West Mount Ruitan Club, she delivered meals for Meals on Wheels and many other good deeds. She loved being a member of the "Red Hots", a group that sang and played at the local nursing homes. On Saturdays, Alene could be found hanging out at Hardee's with her breakfast club friends.
Alene is survived by her sons, Ronnie Lee (June), Ronnie Burnette (Lynn); daughter, Debbie Clayton; grandchildren, Joey and Tina Lane, Eve (Ryan) Nemitz, Tim (Maranda) Horst, Daniel Walker, Amanda (Josh) Cruz, Jacob Lee, Morgan Joyner. She is also cherished by her great-grandchildren, Sammy Lane, Emily, Owen, Alexa, Ian and Aiden Nemitz, Teagan and Isaiah Horst, Riley and Baylen Walker, Paichence, Anesty and Eyanna Lane, Landon and Ava Cruz, Aedan Lee. She is also survived by two siblings, sister, Frances Batts and brother, David Langley and wife, Linda.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 20, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Alan Whitley and Pastor John Scott officiating. Burial will follow the service at Forest Hill Cemetery in Nashville. Visitation with the family will be from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
