Addie Parker Tyson Williams

September 30, 1934 ~ December 18, 2015

Addie Parker Tyson Williams, born on September 30, 1934, passed away Friday afternoon. She was born in Pitt County, NC to the late Henry C. Tyson and Mary Ida Edwards Tyson. She was predeceased in death by her brothers, Aaron Tyson and Henry C. Tyson; and her sisters, Louie Dell Streetman, Carrie Bess Davis, and Rose T. Gardner. Addie graduated salutatorian from Farmville High School and went on to attend and graduated from Park View Hospital Nursing School in 1955. Addie served as a registered nurse for 41 years and retired in 1996 from UNC Hospital at Chapel Hill. Her dedication to nursing has inspired a daughter-in-law and a granddaughter to follow her into nursing careers. Addie and her husband Thomas were faithful members of the Asbury United Methodist Church. Addie is survived by her husband of 34 years, Thomas C. Williams; her sisters, Sally T. Mozingo and Mary T. Smith, and brother, Amos Tyson of Farmville, NC; her daughters, Joyce Leonard Swartz of Rocky Mount, NC and Mary Ellen Leonard of Nashville, NC; her sons, Howard H. Leonard II and his wife, Jan, of Rocky Mount, NC; Robert C. Leonard and his wife, Cynthia, of Nashville, NC; and stepson, James Clinton Williams and his wife, Gina, of Lillington, NC. Also surviving are grandsons, Donald E. Swartz, Jr. and his wife, Cherry, of Seattle, WA; Robert C. Leonard, II of Nashville, TN; Garrett Williams of Lillington, NC, and Scott M. Swartz of Rocky Mount, NC and her granddaughters, Jade Nicole Leonard of Greenville, NC; Leslie Annette Williams of Lillington, NC; Lindsay Jo Leonard of Nashville, NC and Katie Ellen Leonard of Rocky Mount, NC. Addie is also survived by many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved and adored. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at 2:00PM in the Chapel of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home Cremation Services with Pastor Patrick Sinclair officiating. Visitation with the family will follow the service. Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery, RR 4, Sanford, NC 27330.
