Mary Etta Davis Boone, age 90, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, November 12, 2014. Born in Nash County on September 30, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Johnie R. Davis and Ella Robbins Davis. Mary is preceded in death by her beloved husband, W.O. Boone Jr. (Buddy), or as she liked to call him, “Sugar”. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Effie Richards and Christine Glover; her brother, Johnie Davis, and a stepchild, Margaret Smith.
Her greatest joy in life was her family. Even though she was not blessed to have children, she claimed her nieces, nephews, and stepchildren as her own. She enjoyed cooking her favorite recipes for her family and friends. Her most recent prayer was answered when she celebrated her 90th birthday surrounded by family and friends at her very first birthday party.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her brother; Joe Davis (Shirley); sister in law, Helen Davis; many nieces and nephews; Carolyn McKee (Joe); Roger Glover (Amelia); Tommy Glover (Darlene); Chris Ligon; Debbie “Bunny” Davis; JoJo Manning (Steve); Kenny Davis; Vicki Parker (Kenneth) and daughter Kati, and all of their families. Her stepchildren; Lindsey Boone (Janice); Martha Sutton (Gene), and all of their families.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM, Friday, November 14, 2014 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home Cremations Services. A “Going Home Service” will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 15, 2014 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Gary Wood, Rev. Shawn Garnett, and Rev. Jimmy Vickrey officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Nashville.
