Mary "Angelane" Frazier Smith

Red Oak – Mary “Angelane” Frazier Smith, age 87, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2025.  Born in Nash County, NC on October 25, 1937, she was the daughter of the late James William “Willie” Frazier and Angie Pearl Greene Frazier.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Frederick Smith; her son-in-law, Allen Dale Alford; her granddaughter, Mary Lindsay Alford; her great granddaughter, Riley Grace Killebrew; and her brother, Willie Greene Frazier.

A woman of strong faith, Angelane was a life-long member of Red Oak Baptist Church and dearly loved her church family.  She was a teacher’s assistant for 28 years at Red Oak Elementary School until her retirement.  Following her retirement, Angelane operated alongside her husband Jimmy’s Grill in Red Oak for over 5 years.  In her spare time, she enjoyed working in her yard and in her garden but especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  A loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and dear friend to many, Angelane will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Angelane is survived by her daughters, Glenda Kay Smith Alford and Angie Elizabeth Smith Waters and husband, Glenn; her grandchildren, Blair Alford (Diana), Travis Sherrod (Chelsea), and Bradley Sherrod (Jessica); her great-grandchildren, Landon Alford, Emilie Alford , Penelope Bass, Peyton Killebrew, Athena Sherrod, Asher Sherrod, and Jacob Waters; her nephews, David Frazier (Deena) and Steve Frazier (Jina); as well as many extended family members and dearest friends.

A Memorial Graveside Service to celebrate Angelane’s life will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Red Oak Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Chris Fowler officiating.  Visitation with the family will be following the service at the cemetery.
