Battleboro – Lorraine Omdahl Marriott, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2025.  Born in Becker County, MN, on November 27, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Myles Omdahl and Ella Henriette Aamodt Omdahl.  She was also preceded in death by her sister, Beverly Fern Omdahl Nelson.

A woman of deep faith, Lorraine was a longtime active member of St. John’s Episcopal Church and cherished her church family.  In addition to working as a bookkeeper alongside her husband at Battleboro Hardware, she retired from E-B Grain Company in Battleboro after 30 years.  Lorraine enjoyed working in her yard, creating special memories with her family and friends at Lake Gaston, and spending time with her golden retrievers.  A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and dear friend to many, Lorraine will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Lorraine is survived by her husband of 67 years, Robert Henry Marriott; her daughters, Pamela Marriott Mingloski (Keith) and Robin Marriott Horne (Chuck); her granddaughters, Sarah Wilkerson (Jordan) and Melissa Mingloski (Tim); her great grandchildren, Beckham Wilkerson and Braelyn Wilkerson; and many nephews, nieces, extended family members, and dearest friends.

A Graveside Service to celebrate Lorraine’s life will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Battleboro Cemetery, Cemetery Drive, Battleboro, NC 27809, with Parker Phillips officiating.  Visitation with the family will be following the service at Battleboro United Methodist Church Educational Building.

The family would like to especially thank the staff at UNC Nash Hospice and Palliative Care, Amada Senior Care, JoAnn’s Helping Hands, and all of her caretakers for their love, support and kindness throughout these difficult times.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Lorraine was the first person I met at St John’s Episcopal Church. I met with her to discuss being their church organist. Although that was our first encounter, I felt as if I had known her for a long time. We loved picking on one another with humor. Lovely lady that will be missed. I’m sure Daddy is showing her the ropes by now. ❤️🥲❤️

  2. Although I’ve only known Bob and Lorraine a little over 2 years, they both have treated me like family, so much in fact we called her Mom. I’ll never forget how we would look at each other from down the pew and grin ear to ear without having to say a word. Mom, I am thankful for having known you and may God bless you always. Love and prayers to family and friends alike.

  3. Lorraine touched many lives. Bob, you have lost part of yourself but it helps to focus on the fact that Lorraine now experiences joy we can only begin to imagine being in the presence of our Lord. We are blessed to have the confidence we will see Lorraine again. My sympathy and prayers are with you and the family.

  4. Lorraine and Bob’s Lake Gaston home is next door. Lorraine was always outdoors taking care of her beautiful flowers. She also enjoyed sharing stories about family and friends in Minnesota. Those good times will truly be missed! Lorraine is a fun and loving person, and we are blessed to be neighbors with them at the lake. I wish Bob and her family peace and comfort.
