Sally Doris Boykin Raper

ROCKY MOUNT - Sally Doris Boykin Raper, age 93, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, March 17, 2023. Born in Wilson County, NC on December 22, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Fred Woodard Boykin and Daisy Davis Boykin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Hall Raper, her daughter, Teresa Raper Turner, her sisters, Myrtle Boykin Lamm, Mavis Boykin Cobb, and nephew Michael Woodard Cobb. Doris is survived by her sister, Sandra Boykin Wilson of Raleigh, sister-in-law Kathryn Raper Pittman of Winston Salem, nephew Ronald Earl Cobb (Rhonda) of Rocky Mount, niece-in-law Elizabeth McAdams Cobb of Rocky Mount, nieces Carolyn Hinnant, Kathy Key, Deborah Cayton, Vernell Aycock, nieces and nephews -in-law, Chris Raper, Don Raper Jr, Melanie Phillips, Bill Whiteford, Jay Whiteford, Graham Whiteford, Mike Raper, David Raper, Frank Raper Jr, Lynn Winstead, and Angela Pittman, plus numerous great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Doris retired following a long career with the USDA–ASCS County Office, Raleigh, NC. Prior to her declining health, Doris was active in her local church, West Mount Baptist and New Hope Baptist Church, Raleigh NC, while a resident of Raleigh. A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Ave Raleigh, NC 27612 with the Reverend LuAnn Charlton officiating. Visitation with the family will follow the graveside service. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Rocky Mount Rehabilitation, for the love and care extended during her stay.
