Ruby Pridgen Smith

Ruby Pridgen Smith, age 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 4, 2013. Born in Harnett County on January 10, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Calvin Norris and Maggie Gregory Norris. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Margaret Acreman, three sisters and five brothers. Ruby loved the Lord and enjoyed attending church at Grace Temple Baptist Church. She was a wonderful cook and known by many for her homemade biscuits. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, three daughters, Rachel Proctor and special granddaughter Amy Proctor, Rebecca Wood and husband Chester, and Deborah Robinson and husband Calvin, all of Rocky Mount; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and sister, Lela Woodard of Smithfield. The family will receive friends and relatives 7:00pm to 8:30pm Friday, April 5, 2013 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home. A graveside service to remember Ruby will be held at 2:00pm Saturday afternoon at Wood Family Cemetery, 6801 Heffner Road, Rocky Mount (Wilson County) with Lynn Robinson officiating.
