Martha Anne Watson

March 8, 1948 ~ June 30, 2012

Goldrock, NC - Martha Anne Watson passed away on Saturday evening, June 30, 2012 at Autumn Care in Nashville, NC. She is survived by her three brothers George (Deb), Jim (Janet), Dwight, and two nieces, Josie Thomas and Beth Hedgepeth (Travis). Anne is also survived by cousins and their families and lifelong friend Betty Sweet. Anne completed her Masters degree in Political Science from the University of South Carolina and her Bachelor's degree in American Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She ran for NC House of Representatives in 1978. She was widely read, an engaging conversationalist, and an accomplished horse woman and swimmer. Anne led her team in scoring against the faculty in ninth grade basketball. She knew all the family history and was an expert genealogist. Anne will be remembered for her infectious laughter, love of animals, and commitment to beach and highway cleanliness. Visitation will be held 7-8:30pm on Monday evening, July 2, 2012 at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at 11:00am at Pineview Cemetery in Rocky Mount.
