Joseph Michael Macanka

ROCKY MOUNT - Joseph Michael Macanka, age 74, passed away on Monday, December 6, 2021. Born in Hudson County, NJ on March 19, 1947, he was the son of the late Alexander "Alex" Macanka and Mary Malkowski Macanka. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Brian Alexander Macanka. Joseph lived and grew up in Rahway, NJ for 30 years. He moved to Kentucky and lived there for 40 years. At this time, Joseph and Karen moved to Rocky Mount. He was a retired Unit Director for over 30 years at the Luther Luckett Correctional Facility. Joseph was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Joseph is survived by his wife of 50 years, Karen Tobias Macanka; his son, Brian Joseph Macanka (Casey); and his granddaughter, Corrinne Macanka. A service will be held at a later date.
