James "David" Ward

ROCKY MOUNT – James “David” Ward, age 54, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2023. He was born in Nash County, NC on August 14, 1968. David was preceded in death by his father, James Howard Ward. David was a talented musician, songwriter, and singer. He enjoyed playing music with friends and serving on multiple praise and worship teams, most recently at New Life Church. He was also passionate about playing baseball in his younger days and was very successful at it – earning many awards and trophies. David was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend. He spent much of his time taking care of others, especially his Mama. David is survived by his mother, Lillian Rose Casey Ward; his sister, Laura Langley and husband, Keith; his nephew, Logan Langley; and his niece, Jessica Langley and fiancé, Jeremiah Braxton; honorary nephews Alex and Jason Trejo; and special friend Theresa Ayscue; as well as many other family members and friends. A Funeral Service to celebrate David’s life will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at 2:00 PM at New Life Church, 1127 Benvenue Road, Rocky Mount, NC 27804, with the Pastor Tim Suber officiating. Burial will follow the service at Pineview Cemetery. A visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM prior to the service in the Sanctuary of New Life Church. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made in David’s memory to New Life Church, 1127 Benvenue Road, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.   3. I remember the small fry league at the YMCA, first time we met and went from there. David was always a true friend and everytime I saw him it led to a long conversation. I only wish we had a played some music together. Seen him there showing support even at acoustic shows. It was and always will be an honor to say David was my friend.   8. David and his family have always been special to our family. When David was two years old,
    Mama Lillian kept other children, one of whom was our son, Brian. David used his talents well and will truly be missed by many.

  9. Not a memory but a thought. David had the absolute best smile and it was very contagious. I never failed to smile when he came around. I will dearly miss him brightening my days. He knew how to treasure people especially his wonderful family. May God wrap all those who knew him in comfort as only he can do.
