Frances "Frankie" Joyner Tilley, 69, a lifelong resident of Rocky Mount, passed away on May 10, 2017 at Nash General Hospital. She was born in Nash County, NC on April 9, 1948 and she was the daughter of the late David Worth and Frances Hackney Joyner, also of Rocky Mount.
Frankie was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, and aunt who touched the lives of many throughout her life. She was an enduring and endearing friend by those who knew her. Her unassuming style, kindred spirit, and engaging personality immediately made even strangers comfortable in her presence. A rare characteristic was that Frankie never spoke ill of anyone and once you met her she left an indelible mark, making her a friend for life.
Frankie leaves behind to cherish her memory, devoted husband, Mac Tilley; daughters, Marcie Harlow Coyne and husband, Mark, of Chapel Hill; and Julia Harlow Levy and husband, Jeff, of Rocky Mount. She is also survived by grandchildren, Josh and Katie of Chapel Hill; and brother, David Worth Joyner, Jr., of Raleigh.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Church of the Good Shepherd, 231 N. Church Street, Rocky Mount. Visitation with the family will immediately follow the service.

Mac, I just saw this on Facebook. I am so sorry. I went to school with frankie, but did not know her very well. Again my prayers are with you and your family. PENNY WILLIAMS
God Bless Frankie and her entire family. Had the privilege of knowing Frankie in early years, grades 1-8. Recently, after 54 years, it was my honor to see her again and reminisce about how a good number of kids enjoyed playing in her home and backyard growing up. Frankie was loved, liked and respected by her family, friends and classmates. Rest In Peace, Frankie. May the Lord comfort and heal those left behind who loved her.
My heart hurts. Frankie was a dear friend and I loved her and will miss her. I am happy she no longer suffers. God bless Mac, Frankie’s girls and David Worth. Love you all. Margarette Alford Rivenbark
