Evia Lucy Cary Winstead, 86 passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2012. She was born in Alamance Co., NC, November 5, 1925, daughter of the late Octavious Cary and Maggie Wells Cary. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Wanda Faye Winstead.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. A longtime member of Peoples Chapel FWB Church, she was currently a member of Emmanuel FWB Church.
Surviving are her husband, of 64 years of marriage, Ollie Bruce Winstead; daughters, Kaye W. Winstead (Billy) of Sharpsburg and Amy W. Stroud (Ronnie) of Elm City; grandchildren, Susan W. Hobbs of Apex, NC, Sandra F. Winstead of Boulder, CO, Ronnie Bruce Stroud of Elm City; and one great-grandchild, Chatham Winstead Chopra of Boulder, CO.
A funeral service for her will be held 3:00 pm Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Wheeler Woodlief Funeral Home with Rev. Barry Gardner and Rev. Paul Weaver officiating. The family will receive family and friends prior to the service from 2:00 - 3:00 pm Saturday, January 14, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Peoples Chapel FWB Church Cemetery, Elm City, NC.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Peoples Chapel FWB Church or Emmanuel FWB Church, both to be sent to P. O. Box 118, Sharpsburg, NC 27868.
