Edward Thomas “Tommy” Ray

Edward Thomas “Tommy” Ray, age 80, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2016. Born in Robeson County, NC on September 20, 1935, he was the son of the late Wade Hampton Ray and Emily Suggs Ray. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Gene Austin Ray. Tommy was a devoted husband and family man. He was a man of God and enjoyed music. Tommy leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife Betty Nichols Ray of 58 wonderful years; his four sons, Dennis Ray of Nashville, NC and his fianc, Joan; Thomas Ray and his wife, Sandra of Tarboro, NC, Randy Ray and his wife, Ann of Hinesville, GA, Kenneth Ray and his wife, Pauline of Check, VA; A brother Ted Ray and his wife, Emma of Lexington, NC and a special friend Julie Marshall of Rocky Mount, NC. He also leaves to cherish his memory his eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home Cremation Services with Pastor Jerome Mozingo officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and relatives earlier Tuesday, March 15, 2016 from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home Cremation Services. Memorials of ones choice are accepted.
